Seamless or ERW welded pipe - when do I need seamless?
Seamless is specified where the weld seam is a risk: high-pressure and high-temperature service such as boilers, refineries and process lines. ERW welded pipe is more economical for lower-pressure distribution. Both are hydrostatically tested, and seamless is additionally covered by eddy-current inspection and PMI on request.
What heat treatment and testing do seamless pipes receive?
Seamless pipe is normalized or tempered to the grade requirement - for example ASTM A106 Grade B is normally supplied in the normalized condition - and every heat is verified by chemical analysis, tensile, hardness and flattening tests before release.
Which wall thickness schedules do you commonly supply?
SCH 40, SCH 80, SCH 160, XS and XXS are supplied across the common diameter range in ASTM A106, API 5L and Chinese grades 20#/45#/16Mn, with end preparation, length schedule and marking confirmed in writing before production.
